Frequently Asked Questions

Q Can you recommend builders in my area?
— Patrick B.

A We don't keep a list of builder contractors. You can get referrals from your local Homebuilders Association or Chamber of Commerce. Also ask friends and family for ideas.

Q Do your plans include a materials list?
— Dennis B.

A Because building methods and materials differ around the country, we do not include materials lists. You should have your builder or contractor develop the materials list.

Q Do your plans provide complete HVAC, plumbing and electrical information?
— Collyn C.

A The type and layout of these systems are decisions you make with your contractor, so our plans do not show extensive information. Working this out with your contractor also ensures that these systems meet your local building codes and standards.

Q What if the foundation I need in not available for the plan I select?
— Arleen F.

A Most builders can make this type of change for you. If you need a particular foundation specified in the plans, you can contact us to order a plan revision.

Q Can I order plans in reverse?
— Rudy W.

A Yes. You can order "Mirror Reverse" sets in which all elements read backwards, including the text; however, your order must also include at least one right-reading set. Another option is to order a "Right Reading Reverse," in which the image is reversed but all text reads correctly.

Q How many sets of plans will I need?
— Will B.

A You may need sets for yourself, your mortgage lender, your local building department, and several sets for your contractor and subcontractors. Our 8-set Construction Package is a good value. Or, purchase a Master, in either vellum or electronic form, which may be reproduced as often as needed for the construction of a single residence.

Q Can I make changes on a reproducible master?
— Meagan K.

A Yes. On a vellum master, your architect or engineer can make changes using xerographic eradicator fluid, or a dark grey ink eraser in an electric eraser. Electronic masters can be changed using compatible CAD software.

Q What is your returns policy?
— Abe H.

A Plans are printed in response to your order, so we cannot accept returns. You may exchange your entire printed order for an 80% credit toward a new order. No return or exchange of Masters.
