This Craftsman-style home with an inviting front entrance is situated on a downward sloping lot on Mt. Scott, and was designed to take in the beautiful westward views. This home has many luxurious features such as corner windowed soaking up in the owners' suite, and a butlers pantry off the kitchen.
Tour comments heard were, "I could see myself living in this house", "a home I could kick my feet up in", "comfortable, liveable home", and "I'd never leave that bathtub".

With its single-level Ranch floor plan and central great room, the Lake Creek is equally well suited to the needs of growing families or empty nesters. Wide windows fill most of the rear wall, next to a fireplace nestled into the right-hand corner. Standing at the kitchen sink, you can observe the great room across a raised eating bar, plus the dining area and patio.

Free-following great room, dining room and kitchen make up the left hand side of this shingle-style home. A fireplace is centered on the great room wall, framed by a window on each side. The owners' suite and secondary bedrooms fill out the right side of the home. A generous utility room features lots of built in cabinets and a folding counter.

Wide expanses of glass span the rear walls, inviting construction in a variety of natural settings. A vaulted hexagonal great room fills the heart of this prairie or ranch-style home. Cabinets, counters and appliances wrap around three sides of the vaulted kitchen, which is open to great room. A claw foot tub adds a nostalgic note to the owners’ suite.
This Craftsman garage plan can park up to three cars. On the left side of the garage there are two doors, one is 10' wide and 10' tall while the other is 16' wide and 10' tall. The garage door on the right side is 9' wide and 10' tall. Upstairs there is a large attic with balcony.
This large country-style duplex plan gives you two for the price of one. Both three-bedroom units have a charming railed and covered porch up front and a garage at the rear, but they are far from being mirror images. Their covered patios are well out of earshot of each other, while the shapes and sizes of the rooms vary. Each has a large, bright gathering space.

What do families want in their homes? It changes a little every year, but much greater differences evolve over the course of a decade. Results just in from Associated Designs' 2013 Home from the Heart Survey show this to be true.
Ten years ago, people yearned for larger homes. The 2000-3000 square foot home was the most popular. This year, 1400-1800 square feet rated the highest, perhaps reflecting the economic realities of the times.
Style preferences have changed a great deal as well. In 2003, the contemporary exterior came out on top, followed closely by the nostalgic country-style home. This year, ranch-style homes were the most preferred, indicating a major comeback for this old favorite. The Craftsman-style home ranked second with 21 percent, actually quite close to the 25 percent it rated in 2003.
When it comes to floor plans, contemporary families appear to want more openness in their gathering spaces. Only 17 percent asked for formal living areas, down from about 50 percent ten years ago. More than 90 percent asked that their kitchen be open to the family room, as opposed to less than 60 percent back then. On the other hand, more than 90 percent now want the owners' suite isolated from the secondary bedrooms, up from 70 percent in 2003. A high preference for its location on the main floor held steady over time.
The desire for a woodstove or fireplace has dropped from 90 percent to about 75 percent. And it's notable, but not surprising, that computer centers have shot up from around 45 percent to around 65 percent. Green building practices were barely talked about in 2003. Now, most families are considering including at least some of these options in their plans.

This Craftsman garage plan can park up to two cars. Both doors are the same size at 10' wide and 8' tall. In the back is a hobby room with a work bench, sink and mechanical room. Two sets of stairs access the second floor. During raining days the second floor can be access from the hobby room, or if the weather is pleasant there is a set of stairs that runs along the outside of the garage. On the second floor there is a loft with space for a sink, cook top and refrigerator. There is also an office and full bathroom.
