Photos of Completed Aspen

Settled among Aspen trees on beautiful lake front property this cabin home design is not only rightfully named, but takes in the great view. Our clients had actually purchased other plans and as luck would have it saw our design in their local newspaper, " we have not regretted for one minute changing our minds to the Aspen".

While the original design features log contruction, the Aspen 30-025 is also available in standard 2x6 construction which is the option our clients chose. Minor changes were made to customize thier home for them and the area in which it was built. The following are the changes and finishes chosen outlined by the clients:
"Structurally we changed the roof trusses slightly to accommodate requests by our builder and building supplier. This changed the angle on the second floor to be less sloped but more structurally sound. The foundation was constructed of concrete filled styrofoam and has a 6’ 8” clearance and will be used basically as storage. An egress window was added on one end of the lower level to allow for emergency exit."
"On the main floor we changed the free standing stove to a see-through built in fireplace (RSF Oracle) which connects the great room with the master bedroom. We customized each side of the fireplace. The great room side of the fireplace is much larger and was enclosed with Prostone. On the master side, we used a 4 color random tile that coordinated with the porcelain glazed tile in the master bath. Both sides have a custom mantel built by the owner. Flooring was a concern because we are on a lake lot and have 2 dogs who love to swim and 2 adults who think a lake house should be enjoyed. The kitchen/dining areas were completed with Duraceramic terra slate and the balance of the main floors are Tarkett autumn walnut laminate. The stairs and upper floor are carpeted. Oak railings were used on the loft area and staircase using matching stain from the cabinetry. All baths have granite countertops. The master bath and upstairs baths each have glass shower enclosures. The kitchen countertops are high density laminate Mystic Gemstone which is extremely easy to care for and I recommend it over granite any day. Kitchen cabinetry and master bath units are custom built knotty alder with whiskey black glaze stain. After viewing the Kodiak plan, we decided to add another access door in the laundry area. All arched ceilings are covered in prestained knotty pine carsiding. Interior doors and trim are oak and stained to match cabinetry."
"The exterior of the home is prefinished siding by Canexel. Windows are all triple paned to accommodate for the cold windows and direct sunlight in the summer months. The decking on the front was designed by our builder to compliment the shape and design of the front of the home. The rear porch, which actually faces the road entering the property, was enclosed and screened for summer. Plexi-glass sheets are now in place over the screens for winter months making it almost a 3 season area. A 3 stall detached garage with one stall workshop was completed adjacent to the house."

We appreciate our clients taking the time to send us photographs of their beautiful home. We hope you enjoy looking at the following photo tour:
