A bright stucco exterior and crisp tile roofing give a bright and breezy look to this single-level Mediterranean home plan. Its kitchen is open to a family room, with a long work island/eating bar marking the boundary. The sunny nook offers easy access to a roomy screened porch, ideal for warm weather dining.

Comfy Plainview designed for easy living
Three planter boxes cascading with rich green foliage soften the lines of the Plainview, a mid-size contemporary family home with a huge screened porch at the rear. Arched windows, stucco detailing and a tile roof give the plan a Mediterranean flavor.
Inside, the floorplan is quite open. Posts provide definition between the entry hall and the formal areas -- living room and dining room -- without blocking visual access or ease of movement. At the rear of the dining room, sliding glass doors open on a screened porch that is also accessible from the nook. The porch, in turn, has an exterior door to a large paved courtyard or patio.
Windows in front of the sink brighten the kitchen and provide a view through the screened porch and beyond. The rangetop is seated in a combination work island/eating bar. Cooks can keep an eye on activities in the family room while they prepare meals, and can serve food directly from stove to plate or bowl without moving a step. The family room is the largest, brightest room in the house. Windows flank the fireplace, and sliders at the rear open to the courtyard.
Secondary bedrooms are located far from the master suite. Both have walk-in closets and they share a two-section bathroom.
Well-isolated from the hustle and bustle of the family room and kitchen, the Plainview's master suite serves as an adult retreat. It comes equipped with a large walk-in closet, spa tub, and double vanity. Shower and toilet are separately enclosed and accessible from the rear yard.
