Starter home designed for comfortable living

The Daytona is a compact and affordable starter home. But this two-bedroom plan offers more group living space than is typically found in a home this size. It has a formal living room and dining room, in addition to the comfortable family room. And of course, there's a screened porch to allow shaded, bug-free appreciation of the out-of-doors.

Arched multipaned windows fill most of the living room's front wall, creating a bright and welcoming space for entertaining or quiet relaxation. A half-wall with an overhead plant shelf provides partial separation between the living room and the dining room. If desired, a full wall, or a walk-through capped by a plant shelf, could be substituted. Or the two rooms could be left undivided.

The kitchen has ample work and storage space. Stove and cooktop are built into a large work island that doubles as an eating bar. A window-bright nook expands the room and a small pantry increases storage capacity. Sliders in the family room open onto the screened porch.

Bathrooms and closets at the center of the home create a sound buffer between the bedrooms and the family living spaces. In the front bathroom, tub and toilet are enclosed. The basin is separate, in a pass-through section that allows access from the group living spaces as well as the secondary bedroom. Utilities are convenient to the bedrooms and close to the garage.

Both the Daytona's bedrooms have walk-in closets. The master suite also has a private bathroom with a shower and spa.
