Parkcrest blends formal, informal spaces

The Parkcrest is a bright and spacious single-level home with a wealth of formal and informal gathering spaces. It's traditional and contemporary at the same time, inside and out.

Brick veneer, multipaned windows and an arched entry give the home a familiarly inviting look, while the roof lines, framed columns, and extended window heights are more modern. Inside, formal rooms flank the vaulted entry, which leads directly into the expansive informal great room, kitchen and nook at the rear.

At the rear of the vaulted great room, tall windows flank a mess-free gas fireplace where dancing flames create a focal point. The kitchen is partially open to this large gathering space. Standing at the kitchen sink, you can keep tabs on activities in the great room and nook, as well as on the sinuous, free-form patio.

In the C-shaped kitchen, a central work island adds to the already generous counter and storage space. A wide window bay fills the rear wall. Sliding glass doors offer easy access to the covered portion of the patio, which could be screened.

On the left, a hall passage goes by a conveniently located powder room, then on to a hobby room with plenty of storage and space for a built-in workbench or desk. This room could also be used as an exercise space, office, or whatever else suits.

The owners' suite is well-buffered from sound created in the Parkcrest's great room. Its large walk-in closet does part of the muffling, while the main bathroom blocks the rest. The suite's private bathroom is rich in amenities: dual vanity, large shower, and a naturally illuminated spa tub nestled in an extended alcove.

A large second bedroom with windows on two sides faces the street.
