A bright and spacious country home
A country-style covered porch spans the front facade of the Trowbridge, designed by Rod Pfotenhauer of Toledo, Ohio.
Reminiscent of colonial homes with added-on wings, this plan has a symmetrical front facade. The side-entry garage doesn't draw attention to itself.
Informal living spaces span the rear, each function flowing easily into the next. The kitchen has a window-bright corner sink with space in front for plants. Lazy susan shelving provides ready access to everything in the corner cupboard beneath the eating bar. A large walk-in pantry adds to the already ample storage capacity.
The family room is bright and spacious. Most of the rear wall is windows, some of which open onto a deck, and the vaulted ceiling makes the room seem even larger than it really is. The fireplace is flanked by shelves or cabinetry, whichever the owners prefer. Utilities are tucked in a pass-through space that connects the family room to the garage.
Living room and dining room are left of the entry. A window seat is built into the dining room's graceful and elegant curved bay. To the right of the entry is a room that could serve as a home office, a den or a third bedroom.
Two bedrooms are on the upper level, where a landing at the top of the stairs overlooks the family room. Luxuries in the master suite include a double vanity, spa tub, separately enclosed toilet and a huge walk-in closet with a window. The other bedroom has its own bathroom.
The Trowbridge is designed for construction over a full basement.
