Country House Plan - Windham 41-003 - Floor Plan
Economical Windham has spacious feeling
Small enough to be an economical vacation retreat, the Windham is also sufficiently well-outfitted to serve as a starter home or a retirement residence. This 1,208 square foot plan is just 46 feet wide and 32 feet deep, so it fits neatly on a minimally sized plot of land with room to spare.
A big, beautiful stone chimney faces the street and there's a covered porch large enough to accommodate a porch swing. The bay window in the dining room offers a panoramic view to the front.
Despite its small size, the home has a spacious feeling. Most of the credit goes to the open floor plan in the group living areas, and to the living room's ceiling, which is vaulted toward the center. The fireplace chimney can be exposed to the interior if desired, and extended high up the wall. Sliding glass doors in the dining room open to the exterior. This might be a good place to build a deck for outdoor dining.
The kitchen is large for a home this size and comes complete with built-in appliances. The peninsula that separates the kitchen from the dining room could be outfitted as an eating bar. Utilities are close by, in a room that has exterior access.
Neither of the Windham's bedrooms are cramped, and both have plenty of closet space. The master suite shares a dual-compartment bathroom with the rest of the house, while bedroom two has a small private bathroom.
