Timeless horizontal lap siding and a simple stone wainscot grace the exterior of the Craftsman inspired Umatilla house plan. To wings extend from the left and right sides of the home like arms ready to embrace visitors and drawn them to the front door. The front covered porch features two skylights which keep the entry bright.
The vaulted ceiling that begins at the front covered porch extends inside to the entry and beyond. Sidelights frame the front door, filling the space with natural light. Around the corner to the right a storage closet could serve as a coat closet for guests. Continuing to the right, the hallway ends at the luxurious owners’ suite. Filling the entire right side of the home, the vaulted owners’ suite is naturally bright from windows along two walls. One of the windows is a sliding glass door that opens to a private patio. Through double doors opposite the sliding door is the owners’ suite bathroom.
Back at the entry, barn doors slide to reveal the great room which fills the core of the home. Vaulted ceilings continue through the kitchen and dining room which are completely open to each other. A step down helps to provide a feeling of separation between the dining room and the great room. Glass along three sides allow for the great room to be surrounded by views and filled with natural light. A cozy woodstove fills a corner and can be enjoyed through the great room to the kitchen.
The wing that extends from the left side of the home is filled with a second bedroom which boasts vaulted ceilings, a walk-in closet, and direct access to the shared full bathroom. At the end of the wing is a mud hall with access to the laundry room.
Breezeways connect both garages providing nice separation from the house while ensuring protection from the elements. Both garages are designed for access from the side and are oversized for extra storage.
