The Abbot is a four-bedroom home with three bathrooms that has a retro feel. It was designed for a family of large size on a budget. A small porch with gingerbread trim adds an old-fashioned touch. There's enough room for a swing on the porch.
It is ideal to have a small powder room right inside the entrance door for children who are rushing in after playing. The living room and the dining room are connected, but there is a hint of separation. The living room is warmed by a fireplace, while a sliding glass door opens into the deck.
The kitchen is accessible from both the living and dining rooms. The informal flow of traffic is created by leaving the doors wide open. It's also handy to have the option to shut off the kitchen for formal events, so that the mess of the meal can be hidden or the noise of the cleaning up activities is muffled. There is plenty of counter and cupboard space in the kitchen, as well as a built-in oven and range, plus a broom cabinet and access to the garage.
Upstairs are the bedrooms for children and utilities. Three bedrooms are connected by a large bathroom that includes a double vanity with linen closet, whirlpool tub and shower combination. A pocket door can be fitted in between the sinks and toilet to provide more privacy. The sleeping areas for adults are located on the first floor, to the left side of the family area. A spacious walk-in wardrobe and an oversized, glass-enclosed shower are among the luxury amenities.
