Happy Holidays from Associated Designs!
Alternating widths of lap siding create a subtitle and eye-catching exterior to this modern prairie house plan. Designed to take advantage of a lot that slopes to the front and side, most of the home’s living is found on one level.
The front door is framed by a set of posts creating a welcoming and sheltered entry. Inside the foyer presents a split entry. Heading down will bring you to the home’s partial basement. At the end of the stairs is a mud hall furnished with a bench and drop zone. There is also access to the mechanical room, under stair storage plus the attached 2 car garage.
Back at the foyer, heading up will bring you to the main living area. To the right, a set of French doors opens to the den. With access from two hallways the den would also make a great nursery or bedroom for small children. For families without children or whose children are older, the den could be furnished as a study or home office.
The right side of the floor plan is filled with the great room. Living room, dining room, and kitchen are all open to each other allowing people and conversations to flow freely. In the corner of the living room is a fireplace and along the back wall a large sliding glass door opens to the covered patio extending the space outside during nice weather. The dining room is between the kitchen and living room. Mirroring the living room, another large sliding glass door opens to the BBQ patio. The C-shaped kitchen completes the great room. Offering lots of counter space and cabinet storage, the kitchen also boasts a corner walk-in pantry and center island with eating bar.
A hallway that traverses left from the great room leads to the Staghorn’s three bedrooms and laundry room. The two secondary bedrooms share a compartmentalized bathroom. The owners’ suite is nearby and features a walk-in closet and private bathroom with walk-in shower, private toilet, and dual vanities.
