It's been awhile since I have posted the progress of the new house and to say I'm excited about it is an understatement though it feels rather surreal to me at times.
Here is the entry or Porte corchere (carport). It's stately and solid looking.
The underside is stunning. I LOVE IT!
Early on I touched on superstitions. The discovery of a nesting robin in essentially our great room door way had me doing a bit more research for the meaning. A nest with eggs indicates a blest household, or the creation of happy household...
Here is the before picture of our rustic little cabin's kitchen. It's cute, however, that's a plywood island and the counter tops are old painted formica. I will admit I'm a mild germ-a-phobe, I always said, there is no 5 second rule in this kitchen.
And here is the after. It's not completely done, but it's a transformation and a kitchen that I am now looking forward to spending time in. Rick has worked really hard, and has done an amazing job.

I've been remiss in keeping up to date with our progress with the construction of our house.
Here's what's been going on:
Our foundation is ready to pour.
Of course, about two days after pouring the foundation it snowed. All of this was covered in huge blankets for a few weeks until the ground was able to warm up again. We've had several flurries since then too.

Today construction has officially begun with the excavators, and there's lots and lots of luck coming down on us.
This lucky superstition left me feeling like I should educate myself in regards to other interesting tidbits.
I found the usual "never walk under a ladder", and have also found that when you move out of a house one should leave the broom behind. A new broom signifies a fresh start in your new home. BUT, it's BAD...
The design started with wanting interior barn doors.
It's always interesting to me what sparks creativity.
I said I wanted interior barn doors, and an extra large utility room so I could have a permanent sewing and crafting area to work in.
He said he wanted a single level home that was relaxed and easy to move around in. Oh, and within our budget.
We both wanted to take in the view, and...
Hello, this is us, Rick and Debbie McAlexander owners of Associated Designs. Here we are on one of our favorite hikes at Tumalo Falls in Oregon.
We have begun the process of designing a new home for what we feel is a little piece of heaven on earth.
There is normally a view of Mt. Washington, Black Butte, 3 Fingered Jack, and Mt. Jefferson in the back ground, but right now we're choking in smoke from forest fires. I'll share the view again on a beautiful clear day.
While we undergo this adventure, we...
